Room Restyle With Little Cost

I truly enjoy creating a room that says “I’m comfortable” and “roomy”.  My project was to take what this house already had and create an ambience of warmth. My inspiration was the oriental vase (gold, yellow, reddish brown and of course the sunflowers) .  I used that to create a cohesive theme among the rooms by rearranging and adding/buying  other accessories.

BEFORE - Living Room Challenges
  • Create an inviting living room space
  • Create a small nook  for the computer desk
  • Hide the old fireplace

AFTER - top of the fireplace
Bought the mirror to create an illusion of space in the fireplace area.

AFTER - Bottom half of the fireplace
To distract the eyes from the tarnished fireplace, I hid the fireplace with  paintings the same color scheme as the vase.

BEFORE - Right hand side of the living room
The sofa is plushed against the window

AFTER - Right hand side of the living room
Moved the sofa several inches away from the window to create a small sitting area for the computer desk. Added some yellow tinted pillows to lighten the brown color of the sofa.

BEFORE-  left hand side of the living room
Hides a loveseat, coffee table, piano and etagere.

AFTER - left hand side of the living room
Removed the etagere , pushed the piano away from the wall and created a walk in space for the piano seat and made the piano face the loveseat.  The backside top of the piano  is missing a black lining, so I covered it with a gold fabric and added accessories to detract the eyes from the imperfect side of the piano.

Made the loveseat area warmer and brighter by acessorizing it with colorful pillows

Before- Dining Room
Challenge: the furniture is dark wood and  had 6 chairs crowding the living room area.

After - Dining Room
Resolution:  shortened the table, added some greens to lighten up the dark brown pieces of furniture , and accesorized the table with the living room colors to  give warmth to this space.

added bonus space - created another seating corner across from the dining room table.

BEFORE - Family Room

AFTER - Family Room
Added new pillows, added some paintings where colors highlight the green and blue walls.

Moved the etagere from the living room to the family room

AFTER - Bedroom 1
The two paintings from the living room were moved into this bedroom because they match the bed coloring. I've added some neon green pillows to balance the pinkness and greyness of the comforter.

Halloween Floral Arrangements

I love the Fall Season because of its vibrant colors.  I love creating flower arrangement in different vases and accessorizing them  to match the season.   Can Halloween be scary and still look beautiful? You bet!   Here are samples of flower arrangements I was able to do using just a bunch of grocery  flowers with a Halloween touch.

Kauai's Native Floral Beauty

These floral displays are special because they are God's glorious creation!   I wanted to share mother nature's beautiful splashes of colors direct from Kauai (the "Garden Isle" of Hawaii and one of the most beautiful places to visit), against the lush green of the tropical landscape.  There's some thing magical about the tropics. It's not just the beaches that makes it compelling. The vibrant  colors and shapes of the flowers are a natural, eye-popping aspect of lush green canvas, which makes the tropics a haven for any  gardener or florist .

The following pictures show the beauty of mother nature  in Kauai:

 stinking cabbage

 Queen Emma's flowers

 Cocoa fruit

 apple banana

looks like Ginger but they are flowers

this spot has pink and red of these flowers

I hope you've enjoyed these glorious beauties!
